A few years after graduating from Carnegie Mellon University with a mechanical engineering degree, my financial planning career began in 1994 when I earned an MBA with a concentration in finance and investing from the University of Pittsburgh. From here, I obtained the requisite licenses, and my practice began as a hobby with just a handful of clients. One thing led to another, and the practice grew into what it is today, serving about 130 clients across the country. Most of this was done in parallel with a 38-year career as an engineer in the nuclear industry.
I believe in holistic planning that incorporates an in-depth understanding of clients’ needs and informs asset allocation and investment selection. Winning battles with an auto-immune disorder, a nasty cancer, and leukemia have shaped my approach to investing and financial planning. I don’t “sell” investments, day trade, or recommend investments based on a “hot tip”. I believe money is to be enjoyed but not at the expense of sacrificing financial security.
In my spare time I like to walk on the beaches of southeastern North Carolina, exercise, read inspirational books, and play with our Golden Retriever, Gracie.
