Growing up, I assumed all families ran a financial planning office out of an upstairs bedroom. It turns out though, this isn’t the case, and I was in fact very fortunate to live in a house where IRAs, college planning, and portfolio mixes were all common topics of discussion at the dinner table. When it comes to personal finance, I’ve had guidance from very early in life. Knowing the clarity and confidence that has brought, I’m eager to provide that guidance for others.

After earning an undergraduate business degree from the University of Pittsburgh, I moved to Washington, DC to fulfill a goal of working in product marketing for an automaker. A few years later, I headed west, where I’d earn an MBA from the University of Utah while working full-time, and in my spare time, establishing myself as a freelance automotive journalist. If you’ve bought a car in the last few years, there’s a good chance you’ve come across one of my reviews. As I grew in the industry, readers and friends went from asking me simple questions like “what car should I buy?” to more complicated ones like “how should I pay for it?” and “how much can I afford to spend?”.

From these conversations I realized that no decision regarding finances is ever made in a vacuum - one thing impacts another; there are always opportunity costs - and therefore how important it is to have a holistic financial plan. Seeing this firsthand, and ready for another challenge, I began studying for and accruing the requisite financial planning licenses, and in 2021 joined the family practice.

Outside of work, I like to hike, backpack, mountain bike, write, and indulge a recently discovered love of gardening.
